"Sith" Fans Maimed in Light-Saber Mishap

Now, I have not seen THE movie yet, so don't ruin it for me. I think Star Wars is awesome and I look forward to seeing it when I get back from Oaxaca. But there is a point to which we as humans are supposed to know better than to do certain things. I think Darwin's Theory of evolution can be proved false by the actions of certain people.

"Darwin's general theory presumes the development of life from non-life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) "descent with modification". That is, complex creatures evolve from more simplistic ancestors naturally over time. In a nutshell, as random genetic mutations occur within an organism's genetic code, the beneficial mutations are preserved because they aid survival -- a process known as "natural selection." These beneficial mutations are passed on to the next generation."

OK, so according to the above, the great-great-great-great-great relatives of the two mentioned in the article above must have been, well, so stupid I don't see how they could have survived to pass on the "numchuck skills" to the above British citizens. I mean, that was during the time when they might actually have had to use a sword to fight.

Pray for Oaxaca

In less than 72 hours, I and my team from the Grove Church will be in the state of Oaxaca. We are going on a mission trip to the remote region of the mountains in Oaxaca near Puerto Escondido. We will be having medical clinics, as well as doing some hair cuts, digging some Talapia ponds, painting a mural, and who knows what else.

I am excited. I am tired. I still have another 24 hour shift tomorrow night, so I will be needing some major rest tonight and Friday afternoon. Pray for me.

I need some refreshment on this trip as well. Not the type we get in Sunday school class, but some good God-type refreshment. Grant talked a little about this here.
I know I will not get physical rest on the trip...well, I might. I really need both, but I need refreshment the most.

Please pray for our trip. Yeah, I want a safe trip, but I want a trip which is about God's glory even more. Why is it that whenever we have someone going out of the country the first thing out of our mouths in prayer is "let them have a safe trip"? I don't remember Jesus praying this. Psalm 121 gives me comfort in knowing God is watching out for us. I want our group to come back more excited than they have ever been about Jesus. I want this trip to "ruin their lives for Jesus" (thanks Grant for that phrase).

Hopefully about this time on Saturday evening while at Mision Victoria in Roca Blanca, Oaxaca, I will be sitting on the beach listening to the waves crash, watching the sun go down over the Pacific ocean and getting some rest as the start of a Refreshing trip.

I will post if I can at the base before we leave to the mountains and when we get back. It will be so nice not to have a pager or cell phone to answer, any email to send, no traffic to fight and to take in the sights and sounds and smells and taste of life in the remote mountains of Mexico for a week.

Lunch Tour

Some people here in Fayetteville came up with a cool idea for a blog. They have started a blog called Lunch Tour which talks about some of the lesser known digs in NWA. I think it is a clever way to tell the world about places that aren't always talked about in the newspaper.

I wish I would have thought about this, but maybe they will let me contribute some day. I figure Grant would enjoy doing something like this as well. Thanks to my friends Jason and Jaime for pointing this blog out to me. Here is to finding the lesser known establishments in NWA.

Busch Stadium

This is the last year the St. Louis Cardinals will be playing in Busch Stadium. This pic is from my weekend in STL with Cindy. I met her very good friends Todd and Leah and many others, plus I got to go to my first Cardinals game. I do hope to go back this year some time as I believe they are going to win the World Series this year.

Suzie XVIII

This is the new addition to my home. Her name is Suzie. She is an AKC registered Golden Retriever who is almost 12 weeks old. She is already retrieving which is pretty good for a dog who has never been to school. I have been wanting a dog for a while and Suzie was given to my parents. They wanted me to have her and I decided I could keep her. She has been a big hit with Cindy which makes keeping her a lot easier. If you have a puppy or a dog and want to bring it over to play with Suzie, my yard is fenced in. Here is to future duck hunting days with Suzie.

Chronicles of Narnia Trailer

Here is what you have all (at least some of you) been waiting for. It looks AWESOME. I can't wait until Dec. 9. I wonder why it has taken so long for a good movie to be made about this classic series? I am glad it did b/c it looks like they did this right.

Training Wheels

I am going to LR this weekend and possibly riding Mtn bikes with Grant. I wonder if I should buy him some of these? This is why I ask that question.

Virginia and Andrew

King's River Float

This past weekend a few friends of mine and I went on an overnight float down the King's River in NWA. Wow what a magnificant and beautiful river. Although the water was a little low, it was still high enough for us to enjoy ourselves for a beautiful Saturday afternoon in God's Country (NWA-don't listen to Grant).

The group included Jordan and Mandy Eoff, Virginia and Andrew Steger, Nathan and Lisa Tumlison, Matt and Nana Sellers, Mark Wagner, Amity and Bree, Matt McClure, Brad, Cindy and myself. We put in on Mark's brother-in-law's land and floated and fished until we came to a what looked like a good stopping point. We set up camp, cooked hotdogs and smoars over an open fire, and built a huge bonfire.

Our only trouble came from a few drunk people riding on four wheelers intent on keeping us up (more on this later). The weather held up and did not start to rain on us until we were packing up the canoes on the trailer.

I highly recommend floating the King's River. I am planning on going back for a fishing trip as I have never seen so many good looking holes of water in my life. It was hard to pass them up and not fish, but I did not want to hold the group up since the others were not fishing.

All and all we had a great time. Good fellowship, no one got hurt, and we were able to take in all of God's creation.

Chronicles of Narnia Trailer to release this weekend!

I have been waiting to see this trailer for a while. This article tells more about it. It seems that the trailer will be releasing during ABC's showing of Harry Potter. Thanks to Relevant Magazine for the update.
